Design and Properties of the IR-Beamline at Bessy II

چکیده
This year a large acceptance angle (40x60 mrad) infrared beamline will be put into operation at BESSY II. This highly brilliant infrared source will be used for spectroscopic investigations of biological systems, for microscopy of same and for investigations on the structural and functional interactions of proteins. Vibrational, structural and electronic properties of surfaces and thin layers will be studied using infrared ellipsometry. The experimental station consists of a Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) vacuum spectrometer (Bruker 66/v), an infrared microscope (Thermo Nicolet Continuμm and Nexus) and an infrared ellipsometer. In a later stage of the project an ultra high vacuum chamber will be installed for surface science experiments.

Synchrotron Radiation for On-chip Mid-ir Detection at the Diffraction Limit
Microchips for rapid mixing of two aqueous streams have been produced using CaF2 wafers and SU-8 microstructuring technology and tested at the IR beamline of Bessy II in Berlin, Germany. Advantage of the synchrotron radiation over thermal globar sources for measuring at sample spots close to the diffraction limit of the employed mid-IR radiation have been documented. The capability of the exper...
متن کاملA Second Beam-diagnostic Beamline for the Advanced Light Source*
A second beamline, BL 7.2, completely dedicated to beam diagnostics is being installed at the Advanced Light Source (ALS). The design has been optimized for the measurement of the momentum spread and emittance of the stored beam in combination with the existing diagnostic beamline, BL 3.1. A detailed analysis of the experimental error has allowed the definition of the system parameters. The obt...
متن کاملCharacterization of an in-vacuum PILATUS 1M detector.
A dedicated in-vacuum X-ray detector based on the hybrid pixel PILATUS 1M detector has been installed at the four-crystal monochromator beamline of the PTB at the electron storage ring BESSY II in Berlin, Germany. Owing to its windowless operation, the detector can be used in the entire photon energy range of the beamline from 10 keV down to 1.75 keV for small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) expe...
متن کاملThe at-wavelength metrology facility for UV- and XUV-reflection and diffraction optics at BESSY-II
A technology center for the production of high-precision reflection gratings has been established. Within this project a new optics beamline and a versatile reflectometer for at-wavelength characterization of UV- and XUV-reflection gratings and other (nano-) optical elements has been set up at BESSY-II. The Plane Grating Monochromator beamline operated in collimated light (c-PGM) is equipped wi...
متن کاملKMC-1: a high resolution and high flux soft x-ray beamline at BESSY.
The crystal monochromator beamline KMC-1 at a BESSY II bending magnet covers the energy range from soft (1.7 keV) to hard x-rays (12 keV) employing the (n,-n) double crystal arrangement with constant beam offset. The monochromator is equipped with three sets of crystals, InSb, Si (111), and Si (422) which are exchangeable in situ within a few minutes. Beamline and monochromator have been optimi...
